SuDS+ Rainfall Assessment Report Published
One of the highlights of the SuDS+ project has been working with students from local universities to complete fieldwork and investigate the results of the data collected. The suDS+ team have been fortunate to harness the skills of the students which has enabled additional research to be completed.

Over the past few weeks, Freya has been working with the SuDS+ team on both fieldwork and data analysis. In the field, this has included environmental monitoring and surveying, taking water quality samples, and pond dipping to assess pollution levels whilst building a clearer picture of current site conditions.

On the data side, she has been analysing spatio-temporal patterns in rain gauge records from January 2024 to June 2026. This has involved aggregating rainfall time-series data, and identifying the most significant storms which have occurred during the monitoring period. Also, characterising the catchment by delineating the watershed boundary and calculating the relative area of influence of each rainfall gauge. The conclusions drawn from this project can relate to SuDS+ by highlighting multi-scalar rainfall trends and estimated return periods for major storms since January 2024.
